Good News
In the beginning there was God. God decided to make the world and mankind and it was good. God made man with the ability to choose right or wrong. God told man and woman not to eat from the tree of good and evil.
One day the devil took the form of a serpent and tempted the woman. The serpent said that if you eat from the tree of good and evil you will become like God. The woman and man gave in to the temptation and choose to do what God had told them not to do. The man and woman had sinned and now had to face the consequences. They had to leave the place God made them and would experience death and separation from God.
God wanted to give mankind a second chance. God chose Israel to have the privilege of letting the rest of the world know about Him by seeing their example. God made a covenant with Israel. They were to be a light in the world.
Israel failed in their part of the covenant. They got caught up in having power over people instead of being a light to the world. God told Adam and Eve and Israel that the penalty for sin was death.
God sent Jesus, fully God & fully man, into the world to give us the opportunity to have a relationship with God again. Jesus was the light in the world. So God sent Jesus to be the permanent sacrifice for sin. Jesus was perfect and died on the cross to pay fo something He didn't do, Sin.
Jesus was buried and rose again. He conquered death. He made a way for us to spend an eternity in heaven and escape the penalty of our sin. He gave us a way to know for sure where we will go when we die. Jesus gave us a way to escape the punishment of hell.
God tells us that you need to admit that you have sinned against God. This sin has separated you from Him. Tell God that you are sorry for the sins you have committed against Him and you believe and accept the free gift that Jesus gave you by taking your punishment for your sins.
Just because you have a relationship with God, that doesn't mean that all your problems will go away and you will have an easy life. It means that God is with you and will help you through these tough things. You also will be able to spend an eternity with Him in heaven!
