Wisdom’s Value to God

Prov 8:22-36

 

I. Wisdom existed before creation

        A. Wisdom was God’s possession before creation (22-23)

   

Prov 8:22 "The Lord possessed me at the beginning of His way, Before His works of old. NASU & NKJV

   

Prov 8:22 "The Lord possessed me at the beginning of his work, the first of his actsu of old.

1 Cor 1:24 …but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. NIV

 

  

Jer 10:12 But God made the earth by his power; he founded the world by his wisdom and stretched out the heavens by his understanding.  NIV

 

        B. Wisdom was brought forth before all we see and know (24-26)

   

Prov 8:24 "When there were no depths I was brought forth, When there were no springs abounding with water. 25 "Before the mountains were settled, Before the hills I was brought forth; NASU

II. Wisdom was expressed through creation

        A. When God created from top to bottom wisdom was there (27-29)

 

        B. Wisdom was the master craftsman delighting God (30-31)

   

Prov 8:30 Then I was beside Him as a master craftsman; And I was daily His delight, Rejoicing always before Him, 31 Rejoicing in His inhabited world, And my delight was with the sons of men. NKJV

 

   

Prov 8:30 Then I was beside Him, as a master workman; And I was daily His delight,

Rejoicing always before Him, 31 Rejoicing in the world, His earth, And having amy delight in the sons of men. NASU

 

III. Wisdom will exalt those who listen to her

        A. Listen to wisdom by keeping her ways (32-33)

 

        B. Listen to wisdom by watching for her at her door (34)

 

        C. Listen to wisdom by finding her (35-36)
